Bravo!
It's great when you can be so cool, calm and collected!
i definitely look like a worldly person by jw standards... however i went to my old hall because they are remodelling and they are in the final p[hase.
it was not on purpose.
i had bnusiness on the street and happened to drive past.
Bravo!

whats in a name?

.entry-header one morning at bethel in 1989, after the usual text discussion before breakfast, there was an announcement to the staff about the legalization of jehovahs witnesses in poland.
Great name for your article, Barbara! So verrrrry well written, and entertaining!
This little piece is what stood out to me:
"Ciro Aulicino, a senior staff member in the Writing Department told me in 1991 that a press-pass to access the UN building and events would be provided to any publishing company that requested one and that’s how he obtained his. Ten years later, I learned what Ciro had wasn’t just a press-pass – it included NGO status along with many perks provided by the UN."
Quite a ‘sly guy’…. ( A guy that is very very sly. So sly to the point where your jaw drops when he does his cunningactions. Cunning: someone that’s tricky, devious, sly or shady)
Somehow, the more I read and hear about the Watch Tower/ Watchtower/ Zion's Watchtower/ Jehovah's witnesses/Jehovah's Witnesses/The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society/ the more and more I realize how cunning and sly they are.
Haha! and I looooooovvvve the "jw.borg!" Sooooo apropos!
(great pic Outlaw! I will definitely save & share this ;-)
just to share a little about me:.
i was recently appointed an elder, about 6 months ago now, and that is exactly two years after my awakenning, but funny that the appointment came also about 2 years after i had completely lost all faith in god and had been leading a full time anti-jw life .
makes you wonder the role of the holy spirit in the entire nomination or appointment process.. .
Good idea DJS!! haha! If we only could get the virus to spread...
in the latest watchtower (july 15, 2014, page 14, paragraph 10) it says; today, jehovahs people are not often confronted with apostasy within the congregation.
still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings, regardless of the source, we must decisively reject them.. so, not often, but occasionally jws are exposed to apostasy within the congregation, and they are instructed to decisively reject it.
as we all know, the vast majority of the apostasy they are exposed to comes from the governing body.. i am meeting up soon with an old friend from the 1970s who i havent seen for decades, who is still an active jw, and who would really like to hear what i think about things.
This type of 'reasoning' (done by the Watchtower!) is what is so brain numbing!
The examples given througout this thread show the WT's contradictory, misleading, wily, manipulative character.
The reason the WT has so many quotes about "Prophets," Prophets, inspired, holy spirit, God's Channel of Communication (and so many other nuances) IS so that they can 'quote mine' and deceive more easily.
Once you see 'behind the curtain,' the evil of the WT is apparent.
when i was young ( quite a while ago now) an old lady lived near us.
sadly for her, she had had surgery to remove her whole nose and what was fitted with a very obvious prosthetic nose, a nose that was instant fascination for small boys, who would often jeer at her.
i called her to mind and the difficulty she likely faced whenever she went out when i read this report.. scientists grow cartilage to reconstruct nose.
amAAAAzing!
thx to the people who never give up!

Good research you two! (Make Lemonade, Was Blind)
Maybe we should just print out those quotes and carry them around...
Never mind..... The WT would just use one of their brain-fry mind tricks...
so the latest clip on jw.org for kids is so wrong!.
it is about the "victory song".
lets all sing songs about how vengeful and destructive "our loving god" can be...along with cartoonish pictures...... all rejoice at the death of the evil people who used their "god-given free will", then got punished for doing so!.
Outlaw! Hilaaaaaaarious!!!
I posted here, just so I could get an avatar!
Cha Ching!
as i was saying before the watchtower literature trolley has arrived in my little town.... my wife and i were in town this afternoon and i saw one of my former elder colleagues standing beside the trolley talking to a young man and reading to him from one of their books.
ray was one my least favourite people - he was everything that is bad about jw elders.
i went up to them and interrupted and told the man that this is a cult recruitment campaign.
Very Good, Cofty!
I liked your link to the previous post, and Witness My Fury's idea:
"Make a sandwich board (freestanding type) with It's a cult! and www.jwfacts.com on it in big letters and stand it right next to the JW.org cart. Stand within rescuing distance of it as the JWs will try and remove it within 30 seconds.... Prepare for the ensuing confrontation of wills LOL."
And this says it all: "Ray was one my least favourite people - he was everything that is bad about JW elders" We know exactly what you mean...
One day, my hubby and I will be 'at the trolly' with our jw.fact stickers, or clapboards or..... something! haha! They can't escape!
Cha Ching!
its been a while since i spoke up.
after a lot of 'tactful' questioning, i have come under the conclusion that witnessing ttatt with dubs will never work.
there is nothing called reasoning with them.
TMS: very interesting.. "After all that was carefully explained, repeated several times, several different ways, he said: "Just remember, Jehovah sees all this."
I have heard the same kind of "cookie cutter" responses/ phrases from different witnesses also. Things that are deep within them..
That being said, what made you start doubting? or got you out? (My husband was an elder for 10's of years also, we are both out, along with our children)
NY44: I am an 'independent thinker' (haha!) and we just left in 2012? +/- So, maybe, just maybe, there may be some left to reach? maybe they are new? (But, usually you can tell who 'thinks or doesn't think'... that is the question)
i was invited by my parents, and even though i have nothing but contempt for this religion, things have been good in our relationship so i was considering going just to appease them.
anyone else?.
I do not want to be part of their bragging rites at a later date.
"See how many people attended the Memorial?! Jehovah is blessing us!! Your diligent hours spent preaching are paying off! "
